Women's Soccer Hosts George Mason Thursday Night

The Flyers and Patriots Play At 7 PM At Baujan

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of Baujan Field to take on George Mason in Atlantic 10 action Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
 
BOWMAN NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
• Freshman Maddie Bowman scored the first goal of her collegiate career to give Dayton a 1-0 road win at VCU on Sunday to pave the way to earning Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week. Bowman is the first Flyer to earn Rookie of the Week honors in the 2023 season.
 
• The Saint Louis native lofted the game-winner over the keeper to the upper 90 in the 71st minute, giving the Flyers a crucial three road points with three matches to play.
 
IT'S BEEN A WHILE
• Dayton's road win over VCU was the first for the Flyers in Richmond in nearly a decade, having last defeated the Rams at Sports Backers Stadium Nov. 7, 2013.
 
• UD's 1-0 win ended a seven-match winless streak against VCU (0-6-1), and the shutout was the first in a win for the Flyers over the Rams.
 
REDA ROCKS
• Sophomore Batoul Reda tallied her sixth clean sheet of the season with the shutout of VCU last week. She now has five shutouts in A-10 action and 12 in her career.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Dayton has held a decided advantage over George Mason in the history of the series between the two, posting a 7-3-0 record against the Patriots all-time.
 
• The Flyers have won three straight matches in the series, outscoring the Patriots 11-1 in that time frame.
 
• UD has never lost at home to George Mason, holding a 5-0 record.
 
• In last season's 4-0 win for Dayton, current Flyers Mia Perri, Mary Dziuba and Natalie Hegg each scored goals. UD won by a 5-1 final in 2021, with current fifth-year Alicia Donley scoring two goals in the contest.
 
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
• After picking up a crucial three points at VCU with a 1-0 win on Sunday, Dayton improved to 9-1-5 on the season and 5-0-3 in the Atlantic 10.
 
• The offense is led by fifth-year Laney Huber, senior Madison Wilson and junior Noel Blain, who each have each scored five goals this season. Wilson leads the team with 14 points. Senior Diana Benigno's six assists lead the Flyers and is tied for most in the A-10.
 
• Sophomore keeper Batoul Reda has 65 saves on the season against 159 total shots for a save percentage of .878. The Dearborn, Mich. native boasts a 9-0-5 record and has six shutouts and a combined shutout on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
• George Mason is 1-14 on the season, including a 1-6 record in Atlantic 10 play. The Patriots' lone win of the season came in conference play at Richmond (Sept. 21).
 
• The Patriots have scored three goals this season, one each for Rachel Eberly, Milan Pierre-Jerome and Ashley Shimberg. Eberly leads the team with three points, having also picked up an assist on the campaign.
 
• Freshman Ginny Fronk has served as the primary keeper for George Mason this season, starting 14 of 15 matches for the Patriots this season. The Cranberry Township, Pa. native has 85 saves against 285 shots for a .659 save percentage. Opponents are averaging 3.13 goals per game against her.

• Dayton finishes the regular season portion of its home schedule with a 1 p.m. match against Loyola Chicago at Baujan Field.
