#UDVB Headed To Pittsburgh To Take On Duquesne

Flyers and Dukes to Play Front End of Home-and-Away Series Tuesday

DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to play a single mid-week match at Duquesne on Tuesday as the front end of a home-and-away conference series. First serve between the Flyers and Dukes is set for 5 p.m. Oct. 3 at Duquesne's UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (15-2, 4-0 A-10) enters the week enjoying a 10-match winning streak and the Flyers have won those 10 matches by a combined score of 30-3. The Flyers are led by Lexie Almodovar with 4.33 kills/set (14th NCAA) and 4.96 points/set (16th NCAA) while Taylor Russell's 31 serve aces on the season ranks 15th in the nation and Alyssa Miller's 634 assists is ninth in all of NCAA DI. On defense, Amelia Moore leads the A-10 with 1.19 blocks/set and Karissa Kaminski gets under 4.33 digs/set for UD.

SCOUTING DUQUESNE
Duquesne (6-6, 1-3 A-10) after opening Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 1-1 weekend against Fordham at home, Duquesne dropped two at VCU this past weekend. The Dukes opened the season winning five of its first six matches. Chloe Wilmot leads the conference with 10.95 assists/set and the Dukes have three players that average 3.00+ kills/set led by Carsyn Henschen with 3.65 (4th A-10). Defensively, Ariel Helm is second in the league with 1.14 blocks/set and Madison Grimm is the team's leading passer with 4.13 digs/set (6th A-10).

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 53-4
In a series that dates back to 1990, Dayton has won 17-consecutive matches. The Dukes last win against the Flyers happened in the 2013 A-10 Championship, a 3-1 win in the tournament semifinals. Last season, Dayton picked up two straight-set wins over Duquesne.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton played its first two Atlantic 10 home matches of the season, dispatching Fordham in three sets on both Friday and Saturday. For the weekend, sophomore outside hitter Taylor Russell led the Flyers with 5.20 kills/set and 1.40 aces/set while also posting a .435 hitting percentage.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's first Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2023 season released Oct. 2, Dayton ranked 18th according to NCAA.com. Duquesne was ranked 271st.

AVCA/TARAFLEX TOP 25 COACHES POLL
In the Oct. 2 edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Top 25 poll, Dayton was ranked 20th, up one spot from last week. This is the Flyers' highest ranking in the national top-25 poll since being ranked 20th on Sept. 24, 2012. Over the history of the AVCA WVB DI Coaches Top 25 Poll, Dayton has been ranked a total of 61 times and the program's highest ranking was No. 10 on Sept. 3, 2012.
