Men's Soccer Travels To Saint Louis Saturday

The Flyers Take On The Billikens At 8 P.M. ET

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will travel to RV Saint Louis Saturday, Oct. 21 for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Hermann Stadium.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton heads into the weekend with a 5-6-4 record overall and 2-1-3 Atlantic 10 mark, putting the Flyers in eighth in the league standings. UD is 0-4-2 on the road this season.

Head coach Dennis Currier is in his 19th season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year for the 2020 season.

As a team, the Flyers are averaging 1.73 goals per game and giving up 1.47 goals to opponents. Dayton is one of the top attacking teams in the country with 18.7 shots per game while allowing just 10.3 to opposing squads.

The Flyers are led by sophomore Joseph Melto Quiah with four goals and three assists on the year while graduate student Manny Day has a team-high five assists to go with one goal. Senior goalkeeper Dario Caetano has 41 saves and three shutouts in 15 starts.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
SAINT LOUIS

Saint Louis hosts Dayton with a 7-4-2 record on the year and 4-1-1 A-10 mark. The Billikens are second in the conference standings and are 6-0-1 at home this season.

Head coach Kevin Kalish is in his fifth year at SLU and was named A-10 Coach of the Year back in 2021.

The Billikens are scoring 1.23 goals per game and holding opposing teams to 0.92 goal each outing. Saint Louis is being out-shot 10.3 to 11.5 per game, but the Billikens have a higher percentage.

Leading the way for SLU is CJ Coppola with five goals while Christian Buendia has four goals and two assists. Goalkeepers Jeremi Abonnel and Mason Hart have split time between the posts and have combined for 42 saves and five shutouts on the season.

LAST OUTING
Dayton drew on the road at George Mason last Saturday despite leading just 13 minutes into the contest. Sidike Jabateh scored the lone goal for the Flyers, but they were unable to hold on for the three points.

Saint Louis fell on the road at Loyola Chicago 3-1 last Saturday. The Billikens trailed by two goals at the half and were out-shot in the effort 14-6.

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Saint Louis have played 31 times previously with the Billikens controlling the series at 21 wins to the Flyers' seven victories. UD faced off in the A-10 Tournament last season with SLU coming out on top via PK's 3-1.

SETTING THE STANDARD
Dayton enters the week as the No. 2 team in the nation in shots per game and ranks No. 6 in corner kicks per game. The Flyers also rank Top 30 in total goals and total points.

JABATEH NAMED A-10 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dayton sophomore forward Sidike Jabateh was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16 after scoring three goals for the Flyers the week prior. He scored the game-winner against Northern Kentucky before adding the lone goal in the draw at George Mason over the weekend.

SIGURDSSON PICKS UP A-10 CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES
The Atlantic 10 released its players of the week on Oct. 2 and chose Sigurdsson as the conference co-Rookie of the Week. Though listed as a graduate student, he is eligible for the award since he has not played collegiately previously.

DAYTON DUO EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS
The Flyers had a pair of student athletes recognized on the Ohio State Wolstein Classic All-Tournament Team. Grad student Hjalti Sigurdsson and sophomore Casper Svendby both picked up accolades for their efforts in games against UC Davis and CSUN.

The Flyers return home to host Massachusetts Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. for Senior Day in the regular season finale.
