DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will travel to VCU Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. on the road at Sports Backers Stadium.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the game with at 4-6-1 record on the year while holding a 2-1 A-10 mark. UD is coming off a 4-1 home record and is coming a two-game winning streak at Baujan.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 19th season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year for the 2020 season.
As a team, the Flyers are averaging 1.73 goals each outing while allowing 1.45 goals per game to opposing squads.
The Flyers are led by graduate student and defender
Hjalti Sigurdsson, who has team-highs of four goals and nine points. Sophomore
Joseph Melto Quiah has chipped in three goals and two assists for eight points while senior
Ousseynou Cisse and grad student
Manny Day have three assists each. Senior goalkeeper
Dario Caetano has 31 saves and three shutouts on the year.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
VCU
VCU hosts the Flyers with a 2-4-4 overall record and 2-0-1 Atlantic 10 mark. The Rams are winless at home, but coming off a one-game win streak on the road at Loyola.
Head coach Dave Giffard is in his 14th year at the helm of the Rams.
Overall, VCU is scoring 0.8 goals per game and giving up 1.5 goals to opponents. The Rams have nine players that have two or more points this season.
VCU is led by William Hitchcock with four points while Moussa Ndiaye has three points. Goalkeeper John Ermini has 31 saves and two shutouts in 10 starts this season.
LAST OUTING
Dayton earned a 1-0 victory over St. Bonaventure Saturday with the game-winning goal coming in the 50th-minute.
VCU is coming off a 2-1 loss to Loyola Chicago Sunday. The Rams gave up to two second half-goals while the Ramblers allowed the game-winning goal in the the 50th minute.
