Men’s Soccer Earns Draw At VCU

The Flyers Scored In The 80th Minute To Pick Up A Crucial Road Point

RICHMOND, Va.  - The University of Dayton men's soccer team battled to a late 1-1 draw at VCU Wednesday night on the road.

The Flyers (4-6-2, 2-1-1 A-10) picked up valuable points in Richmond while the Rams (2-4-5, 2-0-2 A-10) were unable to hold on to the lead down the stretch.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
  • 77:38 – VCU took the initial lead with a converted penalty in the 78th minute.
  • 79:20 – Less than two minutes later, senior Kenji Mboma Dem evened the score with his strike that was deflected into the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Flyers totaled 30 shots in the game, but were only able to put one on target.
  • The Rams recorded 10 shots, four on frame.
  • Fouls were 9-6 in favor of VCU.
  • Graduate student Manny Day had a team-high seven shots while sophomore Joseph Melto Quiah had six shots.
  • Senior goalkeeper Dario Caetano had three saves in the effort.
