DAYTON - The 20th-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team will play host to Atlantic 10 foe George Mason this weekend for two matches at Frericks Center. The Flyers and Patriots are set to square off Friday at 7 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. tilt on Saturday. Admission is free for all of Dayton's home volleyball matches.

Both matches will be available to follow via live stats at Statbroadcast.com and to watch live on ESPN+.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (16-2, 5-0 A-10) enters the week enjoying an 11-match winning streak and the Flyers have won those 11 matches by a combined score of 33-3. Junior Lexie Almodovar leads the Flyers' offense with 4.41 kills/set (14th NCAA) and 5.04 points/set (15th NCAA) while two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week sophomore Taylor Russell has collected 34 aces (8th NCAA). On defense, senior Amelia Moore's 79 total blocks ranks 13th nationally while sophomore Karissa Kaminski has gotten under 292 digs (31st NCAA) on the season. As a team, the Flyers are swinging at a .276 clip (19th NCAA).

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
After opening Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 2-0 weekend at Rhode Island, George Mason (6-11, 2-3 A-10) has dropped three straight conference decisions. The Patriots' Nani Spaar paces the team with 3.83 kills/set (2nd A-10) and Hailey Grace is the squad's leading passer with 4.00 digs/set (7th A-10). Chelsea Colter (0.85 blocks/set) and Camille Larkin (0.84 blocks/set) account for 48% of the team's 130 total blocks.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 16-0
George Mason and Dayton first squared off on Oct. 12, 2001, a 3-2 win for UD, and most recently met Oct. 8, 2022. The Flyers have posted six-straight three-set wins over the Patriots and have only lost a total of four sets in the all-time series.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton played the front end of its home-and-away A-10 series with Duquesne Tuesday evening in Pittsburgh. The Flyers shutout the Dukes, 3-0, at Duquesne's UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse and Dayton was led by Lexie Almodovar with a match-high 18 kills to go with 10 digs.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's first Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2023 season released Oct. 2, Dayton ranked 18th according to NCAA.com. George Mason was ranked 295th.

AVCA/TARAFLEX TOP 25 COACHES POLL
In the Oct. 2 edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Top 25 poll, Dayton was ranked 20th, up one spot from last week. This is the Flyers' highest ranking in the national top-25 poll since being ranked 20th on Sept. 24, 2012. Over the history of the AVCA WVB DI Coaches Top 25 Poll, Dayton has been ranked a total of 61 times and the program's highest ranking was No. 10 on Sept. 3, 2012.

350 AND COUNTING
Dayton head coach Tim Horsmon currently has 359 wins at the helm of the Flyer program between his two stints (15 total seasons) at UD. Horsmon collected 128 wins between 2003 and 2007 and has 231 wins over 2014-present. Horsmon is the program's winningest coach after surpassing R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins from 1970-79.
