Four Flyers Recognized On All-Conference Teams

Mboma Dem, Melto Quiah, Bonham, and Sigurdsson Were All Honored By The A-10

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its end-of-season men's soccer awards on Monday and honored four University of Dayton student-athletes.

Senior Kenji Mboma Dem was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 while sophomore Joseph Melto Quiah was named Second Team All-Conference.

Freshman Miles Bonham and graduate student Hjalti Sigurdsson received All-Rookie Team honors as well.

Mboma Dem leads the Flyers with eight goals and 19 points while adding three assists in 14 starts. The senior striker had a league-high 71 shots, averaging 5.07 per game, and ranked second in shots on goal. The Paris native was Top 5 in the A-10 in goals and points. Mboma Dem earned All-Championship Team and Most Outstanding Performer at the A-10 Tournament as well.

Melto Quiah recorded 13 points with four goals and five assists in just 11 contests. The Liberian midfielder ranked in the Top 10 in the conference in shots, assists, and points. He was named to the All-Rookie team last season.

Bonham had a stellar debut season in collegiate soccer, leading the Flyer field players in minutes played with 1,788 minutes and started all 20 contests this year. The freshman midfielder recorded one goal, a game-winner against IUPUI, and added two assists for three points. Bonham was a crucial part of the Flyers' title-winning success this season and played like a veteran throughout the year.

Sigurdsson was eligible for the All-Rookie team despite being a graduate student as he had not played collegiately domestically or abroad. The wing-back proved to be another vital cog in both the Dayton attack and defense. Sigurdsson finished third on the team with five goals including the A-10 Championship-clinching goal against VCU this past Sunday. He was named A-10 Rookie of the Week, All-Championship team, and Dayton Student-Athlete of the Week twice.

The Flyers will open the 2023 NCAA Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at Louisville.
