DAYTON - The 18th-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team will play its final two regular-season road games this weekend at Rhode Island. The Flyers and Rams are scheduled to play two at URI's Keaney Gym Nov. 3 and 4. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on Friday followed by a 1 p.m. tilt on Saturday.

No. 18 Dayton (25-2, 14-0 A-10) enters the weekend enjoying a 20-match winning streak, equaling the program's fourth-longest, and the Flyers have won 58 of their last 60 sets played. As a team, UD leads all of NCAA DI with 2.26 aces/set, paced
Taylor Russell who serves up 0.51 aces/set (22nd NCAA).
Lexie Almodovar leads the team's offensive attack with 4.45 kills/set (15th NCAA) and 5.10 points/set (16th A-10) while
Alyssa Miller sets 10.55 assists/set (19th NCAA). On defense,
Amelia Moore tallies 1.31 blocks/set (28th) and
Karissa Kaminski gets under 4.59 digs/set (46th NCAA).
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island (4-22, 1-13 A-10) broke up a 10-match losing streak Oct. 21 with its 3-0 win at Duquesne but the Rams have lost three straight since: 3-1 at home against Fordham and 3-0 & 3-1 at Saint Louis last weekend. Offensively, URI has two sharp-shooters from the service line as Samantha Blahut and Hannah Blaney both average 0.33 aces/set and Hope Passerello sets 5.43 assists/set (8th A-10). Blahut also leds the team at the net with 0.99 blocks/set (6th A-10) and Blaney is the team's leading passer with 3.80 digs/set (7th A-10).
SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 40-10
The Flyers and Rams first met in 1995 and URI won eight of the first 12 meetings in the series. Dayton has now won 14-straight against Rhode Island with the Rams' last victory, a 3-2 win at home, was Oct. 12, 2013.
LAST TIME OUT
On the front end of a four-match road swing, Dayton posted two straight-set wins at George Washington last weekend. On Saturday, current A-10 Player of the Week
Lexie Almodovar was one off the double-double with 18 kills and nine digs while the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Winner collected four blocks and five kills for the Flyers.
RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2023 season released Oct. 30, Dayton ranked 20th according to NCAA.com. Rhode Island was ranked 312th.
AVCA/TARAFLEX TOP 25 COACHES POLL
In the Oct. 30 edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Top 25 poll, Dayton was ranked 18th. This is the eighth-consecutive week the Flyers have appeared in the poll this season. Over the history of the AVCA WVB DI Coaches Top 25 Poll, Dayton has been ranked a total of 65 times and the program's highest ranking was No. 10 on Sept. 3, 2012.

Tim Horsmon is in his 15th season overall, and 10th since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2023. His record at Dayton is 368-106 and his career win-loss mark sits at 544-270 in 25 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's winningest coach after surpassing R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins from 1970-79.
• Over the last 15 seasons (2009-present), the Flyers have recorded a 194-20 (.907) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012, a 15-0 record in 2010 and a 16-0 mark in 2021. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 15 times (2021, 2020, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers entered the 2023 season ranked 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,213-621 (.661) over 53 seasons (1970).
