DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team won in a tight battle down to the final seconds to secure their second win of the season over SIU-Edwardsville Monday night.
The Flyers (2-3) dominated the Cougars (1-5) on the glass to help them secure the win.

Destiny Bohanon drove to the basket and scored a contested shot to put the Flyers ahead with just a few seconds remaining. The defense then stepped up on the other end of the floor to clinch the victory.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 16, SIUE 12
- Redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon got the Flyers going with a bucket at the 4:03 mark in the quarter.
- The Flyers were able to respond to take the lead 12-9 after the media timeout hitting 4-of-5 shots after starting out 1-7.
- Graduate student Mariah Perez and senior Anyssa Jones led the Flyers with four points apiece in the quarter.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 34, SIUE 29
- Freshman Riley Rismiller was able to start the quarter with a pair of free throws to give the Flyers an 18-12 lead.
- KK Rodriguez led the Cougars in scoring with 14 out of their first 18 points.
- Junior Arianna Smith was able to secure three offensive rebounds during the quarter including two for opportunities to earn some free throws for the Flyers.
- Out of the media timeout, the Flyers went on a 10-0 run including four from junior Shannon Wheeler to help the Flyers take a 34-26 lead, causing the Cougars to call a 30 second timeout with 1:51 left in the quarter.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 50, SIUE 48
- Out of the half, the Flyers were able to force a turnover and get a three-pointer by junior Ivy Wolf to give Dayton a 37-29 lead at 9:19, but SIUE responded with a three of their own by Ava Stoller making it 37-32 in favor of the Flyers.
- Dayton went on a 7-0 run to make the score 48-43.
- Jones led the Flyers with six points in the quarter.
4th Quarter: Dayton 75, SIUE 74
- The Flyers and Cougars traded buckets on a 10-9 stretch to start out the fourth quarter.
- Two free throws from Bohanon gave the Flyers a 71-69 lead but then Rodriguez added to her stellar performance with two free throws of her own to even the score at 71-71 with 41 seconds to go.
- Perez scored a go-ahead bucket with 13 seconds to go to give the Flyers a 73-71 lead.
- Rodriguez responds with a three to give the Cougars a 74-73 lead with seven seconds left.
- Bohanon responds with go-ahead bucket to retake the lead for the Flyers 75-74 with four seconds left. The defense would hold on for the final few seconds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
51 to 34 – The Flyers had a season-high 51 rebounds compared to the Cougars' 34 and also had a season-high 25 offensive rebounds.
26 – That lead to another season-high of 26 second-chance points.
17 and 13 –
Mariah Perez had her first double-double of the season with team highs of 17 points and 13 rebounds.
11 and 11 –
Arianna Smith recorded her second double-double of the year with 11 points and 11 boards.
13 – Dayton tied a season-low with 13 turnovers in the game.
KEY STATS
20 – Another season-best for the Flyers was the 20 assists in the effort. Dayton is 2-0 this season when recording double-digit assists.
