DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Dayton women's basketball team powered its way to a 74-63 victory over Wichita State University Saturday morning at the Daytona Beach Invitational.
The Flyers (4-3) won their third straight while the Shockers (3-3) moved to .500 on the season.

rd quarter – 8:21 to 5:38 – With the Flyers trailing by two, Dayton went on an 8-0 run to take the six-point lead and held on the rest of the way.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 18, Wichita State 17
- Wichita State was the first to strike, but freshman Denika Lightbourne answered with a three to put Dayton ahead early.
- Junior Ivy Wolf picked up where she left off the day before and drilled a three to put UD up 8-4 at the 6:22 mark.
- By the first media timeout, the Flyers trailed 11-10 after a 5-0 run by the Shockers over a less than a minute stretch.
- A pull-up jumper by Wolf ended a three-minute drought for Dayton. She followed that up with a big three to give the Flyers the lead once again with :37 to go in the quarter.
- Wolf had a team-high eight points in the quarter including a pair of threes.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 37, Wichita State 36
- The Flyers maintained the lead over the first three minutes, but were unable to pull away from the Shockers as both teams struggled from the floor.
- Wichita State was 0-for-6 over a three-plus minute stretch.
- The Shockers were forced to call a timeout at the 6:17 mark as the Flyers pulled ahead 26-20.
- Wolf hit another three off the feed from junior Arianna Smith to give her 13 points on the game, the first Flyer in double digits. That put UD up 31-24, its biggest lead of the game.
- Both teams traded buckets over the final few minutes, but it was the Flyers with a one-point lead at the break.
- Dayton shot 45.2 percent and 50.0 percent from three, but just 55.6 percent from the free throw line.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 60, Wichita State 48
- Wichita State managed to tie the game up with a three in the first minute of the second half, 39-39. The Shockers then took the lead with a bucket on the next possession.
- Graduate student Mariah Perez scored the first four points for Dayton in the third.
- WSU called a timeout with 6:59 to go in the quarter and Dayton up 43-41.
- UD rode an 8-0 run over 2:44 to pull back ahead 47-41.
- Over the next few minutes, the teams combined for a 1-for-13 stretch.
- Redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon hit a clutch corner three at the 1:19 mark followed by a jumper from Perez to put the Flyers on top 57-48.
- Smith followed suit with an and-one to give Dayton its first double-digit lead of the contest.
- UD outscored WSU 23-12 in the quarter, ending on an 8-0 run.
4th Quarter: Dayton 74, Wichita State 63
- WSU responded and closed the gap to seven in the opening 1:08.
- UD used a 6-0 run over 1:08 stretch to force a Shocker timeout as the Flyers were up 12 once again.
- As the clock ticked under five minutes, Dayton held a 70-60 advantage.
- The Flyers settled in defensively and took their time on the other end of the floor as they looked to hold on to the comfortable lead.
- UD stayed strong down the stretch and earned its third straight victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Arianna Smith had 13 points to go with a career-high 19 rebounds and a season-high four assists in the effort.

Ivy Wolf had her third-straight double-digit scoring game and hit three more threes, giving her 11 for the tournament.
26.7% - Dayton held Wichita State to just 4-of-15 from three point range for 26.7 percent.

Mariah Perez's four blocks were a new career high. She added 12 points and seven boards as well.
6 – As a team, UD had a season-high six blocks to go with seven steals.
