GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 15, Purdue 24
  • Purdue got on the board first by knocking down a three with 9:18 left in the quarter.
  • Graduate student Mariah Perez responded by converting a putback layup through contact to put the Flyers on the board at the one-minute mark.
  • An over two-minute scoring drought for the Flyers saw Purdue jump out to a 14-2 lead. Junior Shannon Wheeler hit a jumper at the 5:41 mark to put Dayton back on the board.
  • A few possessions later, junior Ivy Wolf would get into the scoring column with a three which cut the Purdue lead to 17-6.
  • Wheeler would hit a layup out of the media timeout to cut the deficit to nine.
  • A couple of possessions later, Wheeler contributed again, this time on the defensive end by blocking a Purdue layup.
  • With three seconds left in the quarter, senior Anyssa Jones made a layup off of a spin move to decrease the Purdue lead to nine going into the break.
  • At the end of the quarter, Jones and Wheeler lead the Flyers with four points each while Perez leads all players with five rebounds.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 27, Purdue 35
  • After two stops on the defensive end, Dayton got on the board first in the second quarter via a Jones layup 53 seconds into the quarter.
  • Purdue would respond with a basket of their own but freshman Riley Rismiller would quickly knock down a three to cut the Boilermaker lead back down to six.
  • Despite yet another Purdue basket, Perez responded by converting an and-one with 6:42 remaining to bring the deficit down to five at 23-28.
  • Both teams would experience a cold stretch until Purdue got a bucket with 5:08 left to play in the quarter.
  • This sparked a Purdue run as they would score five unanswered points to increase their lead to 12.
  • Jones hit a jumper with 2:18 remaining to cut the deficit back down to 10.
  • Jones would score again with under a minute to play to make it an eight-point game going into the half.
  • At halftime, Jones has eight points, a team-high. Perez still leads all players in rebounds with seven.

3rd Quarter: Dayton 38 , Purdue 44
  • After a Purdue basket opened the half, Perez converted an and-one with just under a minute played for the Flyers' first points of the second half.
  • A stop on the defensive end resulted in Arianna Smith converting a jumper to bring the score 32-37 with 7:21 left in the quarter.
  • The third quarter was proving to be a slow one for both sides as at the media timeout the Flyers had only scored four points to Purdue's five and were on a 2:29 scoring drought.
  •  Jones converted a transition layup out of the media timeout to make it a five-point game once again at 34-39.
  • After Dayton scored two unanswered baskets to cut the lead to four, Purdue converted a layup to take a six-point lead into the fourth quarter.

  • After Purdue responded with a three of their own, redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon hit a three out of a timeout to make the score 46-56 with 4:30 left to play.
  • The Flyers were not going down without a fight as three straight baskets had them down by only eight with 1:26 to play.
  • With 29 seconds remaining, Dayton trailed by nine, having capitalized on Purdue's 3:14 field goal drought.
  • Wolf would make a three with 18 seconds left on the clock and then two free throws with 13 seconds remaining to draw the Flyers within six.
