Women's Tennis Takes On EKU and IUPUI This Weekend

#UDWTEN Hosts the Colonels at 12 p.m. Friday and the Jaguars at 12 p.m. Sunday

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's tennis team is back in action for a pair of matches this weekend, squaring off against Eastern Kentucky University Friday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m. before welcoming IUPUI to town Sunday, Feb. 5 at 12 p.m. Both matches take place at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg with free admission.

The Flyers (1-2) head into the weekend coming off their first win of the season, beating Milwaukee last week in a commanding 5-2 victory. UD swept Milwaukee in doubles and continued to pounce the Panthers in singles. The charge was led by freshman Natalie Osiecki and sophomore Neena Katauskas, who paired up to win their doubles match and dominated their singles matches. Osiecki is now 2-1 as the Flyers' No. 1 singles player in duals and is 5-1 overall this season.

Eastern Kentucky (1-3) heads into this matchup coming off a tough matchup against Louisville where they took a one-sided, 6-1 loss. Playing at No.1 singles, Elena Tairian tallied the lone win on the day for the Colonels thanks to an opponent's retirement. Tairian has played as the No. 1 singles player all season, boasting a record of 3-1.

IUPUI (0-2) has struggled to open its 2023 season, starting the season with two losses and no wins. The first matchup for IUPUI was a lopsided 7-0 loss to Ball State, while the Jaguars fell at the hands of Western Illinois in a narrow 4-3 loss.
