RICHMOND, Ky. - The University of Dayton softball team opened the 2023 Colonel Classic with losses to host Eastern Kentucky and Ohio Thursday evening. The three-day event is being played at EKU's Gertrude Hood Field. Dayton is scheduled to play Indiana State Friday at 7:30 p.m. weather permitting.
Dayton is now 5-7 on the season. Eastern Kentucky improved to 11-5 overall while Ohio moved to 4-9 for the year.
GAME ONE
Eastern Kentucky 11, Dayton 3 (6 inn.)
2 - three Flyers recorded multi-hit games including junior
Kara Gunter who also collected two RBI
2 - senior
Emily Daniel was 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and two putouts in left field
2B - both of sophomore
Chloe Wong's hits in the game were doubles
SB - Daniel picked up her eighth stolen base; she is a perfect 8-for-8 in SB on the season
0 - neither team committed an error in the game
