LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Dayton softball team fell to No. 16 Kentucky, 5-4, Wednesday night in a hard fought battle at the Wildcats' John Cropp Stadium. Graduate student Alyssa Cacini blasted a home run bringing sophomore Emma Shutter and junior Kara Gunter around the diamond with her, putting the Flyers on the board in the first inning. The Flyers kept the lead until the Wildcats sealed the deal with a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth.Â
Dayton is now 6-9 and Kentucky improves to 13-5-1 overall. Â

The Flyers travel to Clarksville, Tenn. for the APSU Governors Classic beginning Saturday, March 11. First pitch between Dayton and UIC is set for 11 a.m. at Cathi Maynard Park to kick off the weekend.
