DAYTON - Senior
Marcos Pujols slugged two home runs and the University of Dayton baseball team coasted by Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday, April 12, by a final score of 8-3 at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.Â
Pujols finished the game 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and a double. His two long-balls gives him the team lead on the season with eight and also puts him at 35 for his career, tying him with Rich Dimel for third all-time.
After the Mastodons jumped ahead with a first-inning run, Dayton responded with a four-spot in the home half of the first.
Nolan Watson delivered the big blow, driving home a pair of runs with a double.
Purdue Fort Wayne inched a run closer in the fourth, but UD responded in the bottom half of the frame with another crooked number. After a run came in on a sacrifice fly, Pujols hit an opposite-field home run with a man aboard to push the FlyBoys lead to 7-2.
Pujols capped the scoring for the Flyers in the eighth with a mammoth shot beyond the right-center field wall.

J.J. Gatti got his first career start and responded with a new career-high six strikeouts. Junior
