DAYTON - Junior starter
Eli Majick spun the best start of the season for the University of Dayton baseball team, leading the Flyers to a 9-5 win and series victory over George Washington University Sunday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.
Majick tossed a career-best seven and two-thirds innings, scattering six hits and allowing just three unearned runs. His outing was also the deepest a UD starter has gone in a game this season.
The #FlyBoys jumped ahead in the first inning thanks to the first career home run from sophomore
Mason Dobie, a solo shot beyond the right field wall. Dayton distanced itself from GW with a four-run third, with junior
Carlos Castillo driving in a pair of runs with an RBI single.
Dobie narrowly missed his second home run of the game when he hit an RBI triple off the right-field wall in the seventh. It proved to be a key insurance run, as George Washington plated three unearned runs in the top of the eighth. The Flyers struck back with a three-spot of their own in the home half of the frame, highlighted by a two-run single from senior
Keagan Calero.
