#FlyBoys Split Doubleheader With A-10 Leaders SLU

Dayton And Saint Louis Decide The Series Sunday At 12 P.M.

DAYTON – The University of Dayton split its doubleheader with Atlantic 10 leader Saint Louis University Saturday afternoon, winning in walk-off fashion in game one, 7-6, and falling in a wild nightcap, 12-10 at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

For the two games, senior Keagan Calero reached base at a .800 clip, going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI at the plate to go along with two walks, two hit-by-pitch, and two steals. Fellow senior Ben Jones added a 5-for-9 performance with a triple and five RBI, while sophomore David Pedanou went 4-for-8 with six runs scored, a double, and a home run.

GAME ONE DAYTON 8 SAINT LOUIS 7
The #FlyBoys walked off for the second time this season and for the first time in extra-innings in game one, cashing in thanks to a Paxton Tomaini single with the bases loaded to score David Pedanou that lifted Dayton to an 8-7 victory.

UD jumped ahead early with two runs in the first and another in the second, but SLU struck back with five unanswered runs to take a 5-3 lead into the sixth.

Pedanou smacked his second home run of the season to draw the Flyers within a run in the sixth, and two batters later Ben Jones tied the game with an RBI triple.

Saint Louis inched back ahead with a single run in the seventh, but Dayton rallied with two outs an inning later. After Keagan Calero singled and stole second, Jones came through again, this time with a run-scoring single, to tie the game 7-7 and set up Tomaini's heroics in the 10th.

GAME TWO SAINT LOUIS 12 DAYTON 10
Game two was a sloppy affair, as the Flyers committed seven errors and despite multiple comeback attempts, fell 12-10.

The Billikens jumped out to an 8-0 lead thanks to a six-hit and seven-error second inning. The Flyers cut into the lead by batting around and plating five runs of their own in the home half of the frame.

UD pulled the game within a single run at 8-7 with a two-run fourth, and knotted the game at 8-8 with a single run in the fifth. A SLU two-run homer in the seventh put the Billikens ahead for good.

19 – strikeouts by Dayton pitching, including a career-best-tying mark of nine from Mark Manfredi
