#UDMTEN Takes On No. 3 Saint Louis to Open A-10 Tournament

The Flyers Earned The No. 6 Seed

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
The Flyers draw No. 3 seed Billikens Saint Louis to open the tournament, taking on the Billikens Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the semi-finals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, taking on the winner of No. 2 Richmond and the No. 7/No. 10 matchup between St. Bonaventure and Fordham.
 
Despite battling injuries down the stretch, Dayton finished the regular season with a record of 13-10 overall and 3-2 in A-10 action.
 
The dynamic senior duo of Connor Bruce and Matt DeMarco led the way for the Flyers during the season, as Bruce led all players with 16 dual wins, bringing his career total to 52 victories, good for 10th-best in program history. DeMarco had 13 wins at No. 2 singles and is now tied for 20th in program history with 40 career wins.
 
The Flyers take on a Saint Louis team that finished 15-5 overall and defeated Duquesne in its only Atlantic 10 match this spring.

Ryota Fukushima led SLU in total victories on the campaign, winning 13 overall matches, seven at No. 1 and six at No. 2. Three other Billikens finished the season with double-digit wins: Luca Lo Nardo (12), Sansh Kumar (11) and Adam Behun (11).

Doubles has had 21 different combinations of pairings during the season for Saint Louis, with the most successful being the combination of Andres Castellanos and Luca Lo Nardo, who have gone 6-2.
