Kara Gunter scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly out by sophomore
Chloe Wong in the bottom of the sixth.
With the win, third-seeded Dayton advances to square off against No. 2 seed Loyola Chicago Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Dayton improves to 34-18 on the season while Rhode Island is now 22-30-1 heading into tonight's elimination game against host Fordham.
