BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Dayton softball team advanced to the second day of play at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship with its 4-1 win over Rhode Island on Wednesday. Junior Kara Gunter scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly out by sophomore Chloe Wong in the bottom of the sixth.

With the win, third-seeded Dayton advances to square off against No. 2 seed Loyola Chicago Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Dayton improves to 34-18 on the season while Rhode Island is now 22-30-1 heading into tonight's elimination game against host Fordham.

80 - sophomore Emma Schutter has tied the Dayton single-season hits record after batting her 80th hit of the season
2 - two Flyers posted multi-hit games, including sophomore Maddie Kapsimalis, her 12th of the year
SB - three Flyers recorded a stolen base including Gunter, her career-high 10 stolen base of the season
