DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team opened the 2023 season with a straight-set win over No. 24 Western Kentucky Friday night at Frericks Center. The 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-16) win over WKU was UD's first match of its 2023 Flyer Invitational.

Dayton improves to 1-0 on the season while WKU is now 1-1.

KEY STATS
12.0 - Dayton won the battle at the net, out-blocking Western Kentucky 12.0 to 3.0
.356 - as a team, the Flyers posted a .356 hitting percentage compared to the Hilltoppers' .000
7 - junior Alayna Yates and sophomore Taylor Russell led the UD attack with seven kills apiece
7 - senior Amelia Moore tallied six assisted and one solo block
19 - sophomore Karissa Kaminski got under a career- and match-high 19 digs
