Full Promotional Schedule

HUBER COMES UP HUGE
• Fifth-year Laney Huber scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to lift the Flyers over the University of Louisville, 2-1, Thursday night at Baujan Field.

• With the Flyers and Cardinals knotted at 1-1, senior Diana Benigno floated a perfect pass to the far post while Huber beat her defender and the keeper to notch her fifth career game-winning goal.

REDA'S CAREER NIGHT
• Sophomore keeper Batoul Reda set a new career-high with nine saves against a consistent Louisville attack. The Dearborn, Mich. native has made 17 saves on the season and has a save percentage at .850 for the 2023 season.

BENIGNO BAGS ANOTHER ASSIST
• Senior Diana Benigno picked up her third assist in three games on Huber's game-winner over Louisville Thursday night, giving her one in each game of the young season and 14 in her career.

TAYLOR TALLIES A PAIR OF ASSISTS
• Fifth-year Marlee Taylor registered an assist on both Dayton's goals against Louisville, picking up the primary for Karfonta's goal and the secondary on the game-winner from Huber.

SERIES HISTORY
• Sunday is just the fourth time in program history the Flyers and Illini have played one another. Illinois holds the all-time edge, 2-1, having won each of the last two meetings. Sunday marks the first time the Fighting Illini have traveled to the Gem City to play at Baujan.

• Dayton's win in the series came in the 2002 season when Illinois forfeited the game to the Flyers.

• UD lost in overtime, 1-0, of the Illini Challenge when the two squared off in 2008.

• The Illini narrowly won in the 2019 meeting, pulling out a 3-2 victory. Current Flyers Yaiza Navarro Leon, Laney Huber, and Marlee Taylor each played in the match, with Huber scoring one of Dayton's goals.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
• Dayton moved to 3-0 on the campaign thanks to a thrilling 2-1 victory, taking down Louisville thanks to an 86th-minute tally from fifth year Laney Huber.

Mairin Wessner leads the Flyer offense with three goals and eight points, while senior Madison Wilson has four points (two goals) and fifth year Marlee Taylor also has four (one goal, two assists).

• Senior Diana Benigno leads the team with three assists on the season. Wessner and Taylor have each registered a pair.

Batoul Reda has 17 saves on the season, while her nine against the Cardinals was the most in a game for a Flyer since Kaelyn Johns had 12 against George Washington in the 2018 season.

SCOUTING THE ILLINI
• Illinois is 2-0 to start the 2023 season, most recently defeating No. 17 Xavier, 1-0. The Illini also defeated Atlantic 10 member Loyola Chicago, 3-2.

• In her first appearance since Oct. 21, 2021, Makena Silber scored the 20th goal of her Illini career against Loyola, moving her into a tie for ninth in goals in program history. Silber now trails Colleen Joyce (21, 2000-01) by one goal and Lisa Baldwin (23, 1998-00) by three goals as she looks to continue to move up the program's leaderboard.

UP NEXT
• The Flyers hit the road for the first time this season Thursday, Aug. 31 to take on Akron at FirstEnergy Stadium at 7 p.m.
