DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team kicked off the 2023 Dayton Flyer Classic with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16) win over North Dakota State Friday night at Frericks Center. Three Flyers posted double-digit kills as UD's balanced attack put the Bison away in the third match of the day.
Dayton improves to 3-1 on the season while NDSU moves to 4-1 overall after a 3-2 win over Butler in Friday's 11 a.m. match.
KEY STATS
37 & 10 - junior setter
Alyssa Miller recorded the match's only double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs
16 - sophomore libero
Karissa Kaminski led all passer with a match-high 16 digs
14 - as a team, the Flyers served up 14 aces, led by sophomore
Taylor Russell with four, compared to the Bison's five aces
13 - junior outside hitter
Lexie Almodovar led three Flyers in double-digit kills with 13
NDSU - Ali Hinze led the Bison with a match-high 14 kills
UP NEXT
UD is set to play two matches on day two of the 2023 Flyer Classic. Dayton will square off against Butler at 1 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. match-up against Ohio. Home matches are played at Frericks Center and admission is free.
