#UDVB Hosting Fordham In First Home Conference Matches Of 2023

Flyers and Rams to Play Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 12 p.m.

DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team will open the home portion of its 2023 Atlantic 10 Conference schedule this weekend as it plays host to Fordham. The Flyers and Rams will square off on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m. at Frericks Center. Admission to all Dayton volleyball home matches is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (13-2, 2-0 A-10) enters the weekend enjoying an eight-match winning streak and the Flyers have won 11 of their last 12 contests. Junior outside hitter Lexie Almodovar ranks 12th in all of DI with 4.50 kills/set and 5.13 points/set while junior setter Alyssa Miller ranks third in the nation with 595 assists to lead the Flyers offense. Current A-10 Defensive Player of the Week senior middle blocker Amelia Moore ranks 14th in all of NCAA DI with 70 total blocks and sophomore libero Karissa Kaminski has collected 248 digs (41st NCAA) this season.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham (8-2, 1-1 A-10) opened the 2023 season with a seven-match winning streak and most recently went 1-1 at Duquesne during the first weekend of Atlantic 10 action. Whitley Moody leads the Rams' offense with 3.76 kills/set (3rd A-10) while Whitney Woodrow is the team's primary setter with 9.07 assists/set (3rd A-10). On defense, Tatum Holderied collects 1.00 blocks/set (3rd A-10) and Mallory Lipski paces the league with 5.00 digs/set.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 46-1
In last season's two-match series, Dayton claimed 3-0 and 3-1 wins at Fordham in Rose Hill Gym. The Rams' only victory in the all-time series, which dates back to 1995, was a 3-2 home win on Nov. 21, 1997.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton opened its Atlantic 10 Conference schedule at Loyola Chicago last weekend, picking up two wins. The Flyers gave up a set to the Ramblers on Friday but posted a straight-set win on Saturday over the defending A-10 champions.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2022 season, Dayton ranked 117th according to NCAA.com. Fordham was ranked 233rd.

AVCA/TARAFLEX TOP 25 COACHES POLL
In the Sept. 24 edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Top 25 poll, Dayton was ranked 21st. This is the Flyers' highest ranking in the national top-25 poll since being ranked 22nd on Sept. 17, 2012. Over the history of the AVCA WVB DI Coaches Top 25 Poll, Dayton has been ranked a total of 60 times and the program's highest ranking was No. 10 on Sept. 3, 2012.

1,000-KILLS, 500-BLOCKS AND BEYOND
With her first kill of the match at Loyola Chicago on Sept. 23, senior middle blocker Amelia Moore reached the 1,000-kills mark for her career as a Flyer. She has also amassed 582 blocks over her career, which ranks third among all active NCAA players across all three divisions. Moore is just the third Flyer in program history to reach the 1,000-kills, 500-digs plateau.

2. Amber Erhahon (2014-17): 1,114 kills & 531 total blocks

BREAKING INTO THE TOP 10
Junior outside hitter Lexie Almodovar surpassed the 1,000-career-kills mark on Sept. 1 with her 13-kill outing against North Dakota State. She enters the weekend with 1,187 kills and currently ranks 10th all-time in the Dayton record book behind former Flyer Jamie-Lee Richards (2004-07) who tallied 1,207 career kills.

TENURED MIDDLE BLOCKER DUO
The front-row combo of senior Amelia Moore (136) and junior Alayna Yates (94) have played in a combined 230 matches as Flyers. The duo is one of the most-tenured pair of middle blockers in all of Division I volleyball.

BLOCKS ON BLOCKS ON BLOCKS
Senior Amelia Moore is a prolific blocker and with her 67 assisted blocks this season, she has become the Flyers' all-time career block assists leader. She enters the weekend with 527 career block assists and surpassed former Flyer Faye Barhorst (495) who had previously held the all-time record since 2006. Moore ranks second in program history for total blocks with 582.
