DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to play host to No. 2 Louisville Wednesday night at Frericks Center. First serve between the Flyers and Cardinals is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free. The match will be available to stream via ESPN+ and live stats will be available via Statbroadcast.com.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (5-1) is coming off a 3-0 weekend at the Flyer Classic with wins over North Dakota State (3-1), Butler (3-0) and Ohio (3-2). The Flyers' lone loss of the season was a 3-2 battle against then-12th-ranked Marquette on Aug. 26. Junior Lexie Almodovar leads the team with 3.96 kills/set (2nd A-10) while junior Alyssa Miller is the team's primary setter averaging 9.92 assists/set (2nd A-10). On defense, sophomore Karissa Kaminski gets under 4.72 digs/set (3rd A-10) and senior Amelia Moore and junior Alayna Yates tally 1.08 blocks/set (t-3rd A-10) apiece.

SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
No. 2 Louisville (6-0), the 2022 national runner-up, has opened the 2023 season with a perfect 6-0 record including three straight-set wins this past weekend at the Mizzou Invitational. The Cards are led by Cara Cresse who scores 4.03 points/set off the strength of 1.38 blocks/set (42nd NCAA) and 2.81 kills/set while swinging at .547 (5th NCAA). Elena Scott is the team's leading passer with 4.37 digs/set and Anna DeBeer tallies 3.72 kills/set. As a team, UofL ranks 10th in the nation with 2.42 aces/set.

SERIES STUFF
Louisville Leads, 9-6
After Dayton won the first five meetings between the two squads, in a series that dates back to 1976, Louisville has won nine of the last 10 matchups between the Flyers and Cards. The pair last squared off Sept. 1, 2019 in Louisville with UofL claiming the 3-0 win.

AVCA TOP 25 RANKINGS
For the second-consecutive week, Dayton is receiving votes in the AVCA/TERAFLEX Top 25 poll. Louisville moved up one spot from last week and sits at No. 2 in the poll.

• Tim Horsmon is in his 15th season overall, and 10th since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2022. His record at Dayton is 348-105 and his career win-loss mark sits at 524-269 in 24 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's winningest coach after surpassing R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 14 seasons (2009-2022), the Flyers have recorded a 180-20 (.900) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012, a 15-0 record in 2010 and a 16-0 mark in 2021. • During the 2014 season, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program to become just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers entered the 2023 season ranked 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,213-621 (.661) over 53 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2022 season with a 20-14 overall record and a 12-6 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in third place in regular-season league play. 2022 was the program's 44th winning season.
