Women's Soccer Welcomes IUPUI Thursday Night

UD Looks To Continue Its Unbeaten Streak To Start The Season

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of Baujan Field to take on IUPUI on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m.
 
TONIGHT'S PROMOTIONS
• Thursday night's match marks the beginning of the Breast Cancer Jersey Auction. The auction will remain open until the Flyers' match against Loyola Chicago on Sunday, Oct. 15.

ANOTHER WEEKLY WINNER
• Junior Noel Blain Dayton gave Dayton its third Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honoree of the season, earning the league's Offensive Player of the Week award Sept. 5.
 
• Blain led Dayton's high-scoring offense with seven points on the week, helping the Flyers to another 2-0 showing to remain unbeaten on the season. The Canton, Mich. native scored a pair of goals and added an assist in UD's 5-2 win over Akron, and came back to score another goal in a 3-0 victory over Wright State on Sunday. In total, Blain registered 14 shots and nine on goal for the week.
 
• Blain is second in the Atlantic 10 in goals scored (4) while leading the league in shots on goal (14) despite having played one-third of the Flyers' games as a defensive back.
 
CHAMPIONS OF THE GEM CITY
• Dayton scored three second-half goals to take down Wright State in Fairborn on Sunday night, 3-0, moving to 5-0-1 on the campaign in the process.
 
• Fifth-year Laney Huber scored a pair of goals, one on a penalty kick and the other off a beautiful feed from senior Diana Benigno.
 
•Junior Noel Blain knocked in a nifty goal on a feed from senior Madison Wilson.
 
• It was the second shutout of the season for the Flyers and starting keeper Batoul Reda.
 
• Dayton finished the match with 30 total shots and 17 on-goal. The17 shots on-goal were the most for the Flyers since the 2015 season when it registered 21 against St. Bonaventure.
 
MORE MULTI-GOAL MADNESS
• Fifth year Laney Huber's two-goal game was the Flyers' third multi-goal game of the season. The Loveland, Ohio native joined Mairin Wessner (2 vs. Cincinnati) and Noel Blain (2 at Akron) in accomplishing the feat.
 
ANOTHER ASSIST FOR BENIGNO
• Senior Diana Benigno picked up her team-leading fourth assist in the Flyers' win over Wright State on Sunday.
 
• The Beavercreek, Ohio native has 15 assists in her career, and is one away from tying her career-high for a season. Benigno has had five assists in each of the last two seasons.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Despite being located just 120 miles from one another, Thursday night's match is just the second time in program history Dayton has played IUPUI.
 
• The Flyers and Jaguars played to a 1-1 draw the first time the two met up back in the 2021 season.
 
• UD nearly doubled up IUPUI's shot total in that contest, firing 31 total shots (14 on-goal) compared to 16 (seven on-goal) for the Jaguars.
 
• Dayton's goal came from a combination the Flyers have seen in action in 2023 as well - Noel Blain scored her second of the season off an assist from Diana Benigno.
 
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
• Dayton improved to 5-0-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over crosstown rival Wright State Sunday night. UD's regular season unbeaten streak has reached eight, dating back to October of the 2022 campaign.
 
• Junior Noel Blain leads the Flyer offense in points and goals in 2023, registering nine total points thanks to four goals and an assist. Senior Diana Benigno tops the team with four assists on the season.
 
Batoul Reda has 31 saves on the season and has now registered a pair of shutouts.
 
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
• IUPUI is 4-2-0 in 2023, most recently topping Tennessee Tech in a 5-2 affair at home. The Jaguars are 1-1 on the road this season, topping Bellarmine but falling to Butler.
 
• Caroline Kelly leads the team in total points this season with seven (3 goals, 1 assist), while Shannon Ott has scored three goals and Emma Antoine has a team-high four assists.
 
• Ashton Kudlo leads IUPUI in minutes in goal, registering 379:49 between the pipes. She has made 19 saves and has a goals-against average of 0.95.
