RICHMOND, Va. – A short-handed University of Dayton women's basketball team fell to the Atlantic 10-leading Richmond Spiders Saturday night, 72-39 at the Robins Center.
The Flyers (8-10, 2-5 A-10) fought valiantly, but the Spiders (17-3, 7-0 A-10) rolled to remain undefeated in Atlantic 10 action.

st quarter – Even with the Flyers holding the Spiders without a field goal for over five minutes, Richmond pulled out to a double-digit lead and never looked back.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 3, Richmond 15
- A defensive battle out of the gate, the hosts pulled ahead to a 5-0 lead near the six-minute mark.
- Junior Arianna Smith ended the drought at the 5:50 mark with an and-one to pull Dayton back within a basket at 5-3.

2nd Quarter: Dayton 15, Richmond 30
- After back-to-back threes from the Spiders to start the quarter, the Flyers started to chip away at the deficit thanks to a pair of free throws from senior Anyssa Jones and a two-point bucket from freshman Eve Fiala.
- Dayton held Richmond without a field goal for over five minutes in the quarter, allowing UD to climb back into the contest.
- Jones dropped in another basket and junior Ivy Wolf added her first of the day to bring the contest back to 11 points.
- Fiala bookended the scoring in the quarter with her second basket of the night.
- The Flyers were ultimately outscored 15-12 in the quarter
3rd Quarter: Dayton 24, Richmond 44
- Richmond kept Dayton at bay to start the second half, scoring the first five points of the third quarter
- Jones continued her strong play in the frame, scoring a pair of buckets.
- Fiala had a great quarter, scoring a bucket and grabbing three rebounds
4th Quarter: Dayton 39, Richmond 72
- Smith continued to lead the way for Dayton's scoring efforts, dropping in five points in the quarter
- Jones also scored two more from the floor, leading to her team-high 13 points
- Dayton ran out of steam by the fourth quarter, and Richmond cruised to its seventh A-10 win
