Final Regular Season Road Match For Women's Soccer At Fordham Thursday

Flyers and Rams to Battle in the Bronx at 7 p.m.

BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Dayton women's soccer team is set to play its final regular-season road match at Fordham Thursday. The Flyers and Rams will kickoff at 7 p.m. at Fordham's Moglia Stadium and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (13-3, 7-1 A-10) enters Thursday's match at Fordham enjoying a seven-match winning streak and is in first place in Atlantic 10 standings, one point ahead of Saint Louis. Senior Noel Blain leads the Flyers' offense with 23 points (4th A-10, 30th NCAA) on the strength of nine goals (3rd A-10, 38th NCAA) while current A-10 Rookie of the Week Laney Smith is second on the team with seven goals (9th A-10) and two players are tied with six assists apiece (3rd A-10). Last week's A-10 Defensive Player of the Week, junior goalkeeper Batoul Reda carries a 0.938 GAA (5th A-10) with 44 saves and nine shutouts (1st A-10, 8th NCAA).

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham (10-4-3, 5-2-2) has picked up back-to-back conference wins, moving into third place in league standings, and Thursday is the Rams' regular-season finale. With a total of 35 assists on the season, the Rams rank 23rd in the NCAA and are led by Liina Tervo with eight (1st A-10, 12th NCAA). Tervo also leads the team with 28 points (1st A-10, 11th NCAA) and 10 goals (2nd A-10, 19th NCAA). In goal, Kyla King has played the last 270 minutes between the posts for the Rams and carries a 2.17 GAA with 23 saves.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 19-2-4
In the last meeting between Dayton and Fordham, the pair ended in a scoreless draw on Sept. 28 last season at UD, breaking up the Flyers' four-match winnings streak in the series. The last time the Rams defeated the Flyers was Oct. 16, 2016 in the Bronx as Fordham claimed a 2-1 win.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton recorded its ninth shutout win of the season in a 1-0 victory over VCU Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field. Freshman Laney Smith scored the game-winner for the Flyers, her seventh goal of the year and was assisted by junior Kyra Karfonta. Three Flyers posted multi-shot games, including junior Noel Blain with two shots both on goal, and the Flyers and Rams were even on corner kicks with seven apiece

FLYER FACTS
Eric Golz is in his eighth season as head coach of the Flyers in 2024. His record at Dayton is 85-48-16 (.624) and his career win-loss mark sits at 105-64-21 (.608) over a total of 10 seasons. Golz has tallied the program's second-most wins, behind Mike Tucker who had 313 wins over 22 seasons (1995-2016) at Dayton.
• The Flyers claimed two of the three Atlantic 10 weekly awards on Monday, Oct. 21 in Defensive Player of the Week Batoul Reda and Rookie of the Week Laney Smith. For the season, Dayton has claimed a total of five conference weekly honors.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). Over 28 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 34-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship.
