DAYTON – The No. 19-ranked Dayton volleyball team welcomes Duquesne to the Gem City for a single match Tuesday, Oct. 29 for a 5 p.m. match inside the friendly confines of the Frericks Center.
The Flyers and Dukes played earlier this month in Pittsburgh, with the Flyers bringing home a 3-1 victory. It is the lone set UD has dropped in Atlantic 10 play. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.

UD in the AVCA Polls - Movin' On Up (Again)
The Flyers have been ranked in every American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll of the 2024 season, coming in at No. 19 in the most recent rankings. Dayton was at No. 20 last poll after spending time at No. 21, 22 and No. 24 in the other weeks.

UD has been ranked in the AVCA Weekly Poll for 22 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2023 campaign. This tops the program record set in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons when the Flyers went 21 straight weeks in the Top 25.

Lexie Almodovar passed Dayton Hall of Famer and #UDVB All-American Faye Barhorst (1,796; 2003-06) with her 18-kill performance at Fordham on Saturday.

Another Weekly Winner
Senior setter
Alyssa Miller was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday after posting two assist/dig double-doubles and averaging 11.83 assists/set.

The Overland Park, Kan. native had 30 assists and 14 digs on Friday night against the Rams, then had 38 assists and a career-best 21 digs on Saturday.

The Flyers have now won six weekly honors from the Atlantic 10 this season, as junior
Liana Sarkissian won her first career Player of the Week honor on Sept. 16, and redshirt senior
Lexie Almodovar added her first POW of the season a week later on Sept. 23.
Brooke Smith won the honor on Oct. 8, and Almodovar notched her second of the season on Oct. 21.

Karissa Kaminski earned the Flyers' first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season on Sept. 30.

Dayton sits at No. 15 in the NCAA's most recent RPI Ranking.

The Flyers' non-conference slate included Top 50 matches against Illinois (25), Marquette (26), Wright State (39), UNI (49), and FGCU (50), as well as Top 100 opponents USF (69), Bowling Green (89) and Western Kentucky (90). While VCU (98), Loyola Chicago (121), George Washington (139) and Davidson (190) round out the rankings in the A-10.

Dayton has held opponents to a .139 attack percentage on the season, the top mark in the Atlantic 10 and fourth-best in the NCAA.

The Flyers are third-best in the league in blocks per set at 2.46, and are also third in digs per set at 14.53. That combination, in addition to a league-best (and 8th nationally) hitting percentage of .297 have made UD a nightmare matchup for opponents.

Scouting Duquesne
Duquesne has an overall record of 13-10 overall and 4-7 in the Atlantic 10. Dayton has won 20 consecutive matches over the Dukes, including a 3-1 win in Pittsburgh earlier this season.

The Dukes are second in the A-10 in blocks per set on the season, turning aside 2.54 per set. Junior Ariel Helm leads the blocking effort with a conference-best 1.32 blk/set average.
