DAYTON – The No. 22-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team makes a mid-week road trip to the Steel City to take on Duquesne in Atlantic 10 action at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The Flyers and Dukes play at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Dayton has won 24 consecutive regular-season Atlantic 10 matches dating back to the 2022 campaign after opening the 2024 conference campaign with a pair of sweeps over VCU.
 
The weekend sweep of VCU also made it 10 consecutive regular season conference sweeps for UD, dating back to Oct. 21 of last season.
 
UD in the AVCA Polls - Movin' On Up
The Flyers have been ranked in every American Volleyball Coaches Assocation (AVCA) poll of the 2024 season, coming in at No. 22 in the most recent rankings. Dayton was at No. 23 last week after sitting at No. 24 for three consecutive weeks and opening 2024 at No. 22.
 
UD has been ranked in the AVCA Weekly Poll for 19 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2023 campaign. The only longer streak in program history came in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons when the Flyers went 21 straight weeks in the Top 25.
 
Almodovar Chases History
Redshirt senior Lexie Almodovar has 1,691 kills in her career, trailing Dayton Hall of Famer and all-time UDVB kill leader Faye Barhorst by 105 kills. Almodovar currently sits in second in program history after passing Carrie Cordonnier (1,679; 1987-90) last weekend, and trails only Barhorst (1,796; 2003-06).
 
Smith's Strong Weekend
Redshirt senior Brooke Smith played a major role in both of Dayton's sweeps at VCU this weekend, hitting an impressive .607 from the floor while averaging 3.17 kills per set.
 
The Leo, Ind. native had eight kills and only one error for a .538 attack percentage in the first win over the Rams, then came back to collect 11 kills with just one error for a .667 mark.
 
First NCAA RPI Rankings  
The NCAA's first RPI ranking of the season was released Monday, and Dayton sits at No. 24.
 
The Flyers' non-conference slate included Top 75 matches against Illinois (26), Marquette (34), Wright State (48), UNI (50), FGCU (53), and Bowling Green (64).
 
George Washington (119), Loyola Chicago (126), Duquesne (129) and Saint Louis (149) round out the top five RPI rankings in the Atlantic 10.
 
Scouting Duquesne
Duquesne comes into the week with a record of 11-5 in the 2024 campaign with a 2-2 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukes are coming off a thrilling weekend that saw them split with Saint Louis in a pair of five-set matches.
 
Freshman pin hitter Emersen Schrom leads the team with a 2.93 kills per set and is hitting .234 for the season. The Pittsburgh native has been one of the top newcomers in the Atlantic 10 this season, winning two Rookie of the Week awards on the season.
 
Junior middle blocker Ariel Helm is the top blocker in the Atlantic 10 so far this season, leading the conference in both blocks per set (1.28) and total blocks (77).
 
Dayton has won 19 straight over the Dukes and haven't lost a set in the regular season since the 2021 COVID spring season.
