No. 5/7 Men’s Soccer Earns Trip To Second-Straight A-10 Final

The Flyers Defeated Fordham In The Semifinals Wednesday Night

DAYTON - The No. 5/7 University of Dayton men's soccer team defeated Fordham University 2-0 on a rainy Wednesday night at Baujan Field.

The Flyers (12-2-3) avenged their loss earlier in the season to the Rams (8-5-5).

SCORING BREAKDOWN INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Dayton outshot Fordham 30-13 on the night and put six on goal compared to five for the Rams.
  • UD benefited from a 6-1 corner kick advantage.
  • Buabeng had a team-high seven shots while senior Joseph Melto Quiah had six and Sassine had five.
  • Graduate student goalkeeper Dario Caetano had five saves and recorded his fifth shutout of the season.
  • There were nine cautions in the game and just one for Dayton.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"It was a great night and we had great fan support, especially with a men's basketball game going on and we appreciate that," said head coach Dennis Currier. "I thought we didn't do great finishing tonight, but I thought we controlled the game really well though defensively. There is another shutout. We got the two goals we needed and we are continuing to play with a lot of confidence and momentum."

UP NEXT
  • The No. 2 seed Flyers will return to the A-10 Championship game for the second straight year and will host No. 6 seed Saint Louis Sunday, Nov. 17 at 12 p.m. at Baujan Field.
