Women's Basketball Returns Home Vs Tennessee State Sunday

The 2-1 Flyers And The 2-2 Tigers Tip-off At 1 p.m. At UD Arena

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns home to host Tennessee State Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at UD Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the weekend with a 2-1 record overall and coming their first road game of the season at No. 16 Duke Thursday. The Flyers are 2-0 at home this year and look to get back on track against the Tigers.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 67.7 points per game and giving up 66.0 points to opponents. UD is shooting 42.1 percent overall, 25.4 percent from three point range, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line. Dayton benefits from a +3.7 rebounding margin, but is committing 1.7 more turnovers.

Leading the way for the Flyers is senior Ivy Wolf with 15.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Junior Shantavia Dawkins is adding 8.7 points each outing while sophomore Ajok Madol is coming off the bench with 7.7 points and a team-high 6.7 boards per contest.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
TENNESSEE STATE

Tennessee State is coming off a Friday morning contest at nearby Wright State, falling to 2-2 on the year with a 77-65 defeat. The Tigers are 1-2 away from home this season and hold wins over Cumberland and Eastern Kentucky.

Head coach Candice Dupree is in her first year at the helm of the Tigers after spending last season with the San Antonio Spurs.

As a team, TSU is scoring 66.0 points per game and allowing 67.5 points each outing, nearly identical to the inverse of the Flyers. The Tigers are shooting 39.0 percent from the floor, 24.7 percent from behind the arc, and 58.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Four Tigers are averaging double figures, led by Somah Kamara with 14.0 points while Lyric Cole is contributing 10.5 points, Sanaa' St. Andre with 10.3 points, and Saniah Parker with 10.0 points each game.

The Flyers and Tigers are meeting for the first time in program history.

FLYERS PICKED 11TH IN PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish 11th in the 2024-25 Atlantic 10 preseason poll with 84 points. The Flyers were picked ahead of George Washington, Massachusetts, St. Bonaventure, and La Salle. Richmond was chosen as the preseason favorites, followed by Saint Joseph's, George Mason, and Davidson.

PREPPING FOR A-10 PLAY
Dayton's non-conference schedule features eight home games, one true road game, and two neutral site games. Besides hosting the likes of Providence and Vanderbilt, UD traveled to No. 16 Duke on Nov. 14 and will participate in the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn.

LEADING THE PACK
Nicole Stephens ranks 19th in the country and second in the A-10 in steals per game while Ivy Wolf ranks 27th in the nation in three pointers per game.

UP NEXT
Dayton remains at home to host Providence Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
