LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 23-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team saw its historic season come to an end on Friday night, falling in four sets (17-25, 18-25, 27-25, 13-25) to No. 3 Nebraska at the Bob Devaney Sports Complex.

Redshirt senior
Lexie Almodovar completed her career with her eighth 20+ kill performance of the season, finishing the night with 20. The Noblesville, Ind. native had 20 or more kills in each NCAA Tournament match this postseason.
The third set was the match's highlight for the Flyers and fans alike, as the two sides exchanged leads seven times and had 13 ties. Facing match point at 25-24, Almodovar evened the score with her 11th kill of the set. She then picked up kill 12 to push UD ahead 26-25, and the blocking duo of
Taylor Russell and
Liana Sarkissian turned aside a Husker attack to give the Flyers the victory.

Almodovar's 20 kills led the Flyers' offense, while Sarkissian had eight with three blocks and redshirt senior
Alayna Yates added five kills and five blocks. After missing significant time in the first and second sets due to injury, senior setter
Alyssa Miller finished the night with 21 assists. Junior libero
Karissa Kaminski had a team-high 16 digs.

The Flyers' season ends as the 11th 30+ win campaign in program history and the first to make the Sweet Sixteen. It was the final match for six seniors: Almodovar, Miller, Yates,
Brooke Smith,
Brooke Nichols, and
Alia Williams.
