MACON, Ga. - The University of Dayton softball team picked up two wins on the second day of play at the Heart of Georgia Classic. Dayton downed Drexel, 7-3, before shutting out host Mercer, 2-0, in the nightcap.
Dayton improves to 3-1 on the season. Drexel moved to 0-3 while Mercer is also 3-1 on the weekend.
Graduate students
Emily Daniel and
Katie Reeg tallied three hits apiece on the day while freshman
Kirnan Bailey was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases.
GAME ONE
Dayton 7, Drexel 3
10 - Reeg paced the team with 10 putouts in the game

Nicolette Papavasiliou drew three walks while graduate student
Kaelene Walter tallied three putouts and three assists
3 - Bailey recorded a career-high three stolen bases in three attempts
2 - Reeg and freshman
Deirdre Flaherty had multi-hits days; Reeg also had two RBI while Flaherty scored two runs

11 - sophomore
Izzy Kemp tallied 11 strikeouts, one off her career high, including striking out the side with bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth
6 - six different Flyers recorded hits in the game, including two hits apiece from Daniel and junior
Maddie Kapsimalis
2 - sophomore
Molly Grace posted two assists playing at third base, including the front end of a 5-3 double play in the first inning

UP NEXT
Dayton will close out the Heart of Georgia Classic hosted by Mercer on Sunday with a single game against Drexel. The Flyers and Dragons will square off at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Bears' Sikes Field.
