KALAMAZOO, Mich. - In its first of two matches in Michigan this weekend, the University of Dayton men's tennis team snapped Illinois State's five-match winning streak with a 4-2 victory Saturday afternoon at the West Hills Athletic Club.
Dayton started the match with a win on the doubles side, as the No. 1 pair of fifth-year seniors
Connor Bruce and
Nikola Puric coasted to a 6-1 victory. Freshmen duo
Eric Suk and
Mikkel Zinder clinched the point for the Flyers with an exciting 7-5 win at No. 3.
On the singles side, freshman
Kyle McNally got Dayton its first point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3, and senior
Erik Eliasson followed suit with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6. Bruce was able to clinch the match with a win at No. 1, topping his foe 6-1, 7-6 (5).
The Flyers are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 18 against host Western Michigan, now starting at 10 a.m.
