Women's Basketball Travels To Fordham Wednesday

The Flyers Continue A-10 Play In The Bronx

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team heads back out on the road to take on Fordham University Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Gym.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton sits at 10-12 on the season and is 4-7 in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are coming off a big overtime road win at La Salle Sunday and looks to take that momentum to New York.

Williams-Jeter is in her second season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 65.0 points per game and giving up 69.6 points to opposing teams. Dayton is shooting 40.8 percent overall, 29.3 percent from three point range, and 72.9 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers are one of the top rebounding teams in the league with a +9.1 margin.

Leading the way for the Flyers is junior Ivy Wolf with 12.2 points and 3.3 assists per game while redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon is adding 11.0 points each outing. Junior Arianna Smith is nearly averaging a double-double with 9.8 points and a team-high 11.2 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham returns home from a two-game road stint with a 7-15 record on the year and 2-9 A-10 mark. The Rams have lost seven of their last eight contests.

Head coach Bridgette Mitchell is in her first season in charge of the Rams, coming to the Bronx after two seasons at Northeastern.

As a team, Fordham is scoring 60.5 points each contest and allowing 63.2 points to opposing squads. The Rams are shooting 39.0 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from behind the arc, and 65.8 percent from the charity stripe. Fordham does benefit from positive turnover and rebounding margins as well.

Taylor Donaldson leads the A-10 with 18.3 points per game to go with 2.4 steals while Emy Hayford adding 12.1 points each outing. Matilda Flood is the top rebounder with 5.5 per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Rams have met 36 times previously with Dayton holding a 27-9 series advantage. Fordham won last year's meeting in Dayton 82-66.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton traveled to Philadelphia and earned a hard-fought 72-69 overtime victory over La Salle on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to seal the win. Destiny Bohanon had a team-high 15 points in the effort.

Fordham lost its second-straight game with a 79-60 defeat at Richmond Saturday. The Rams shot 39.7 percent in the effort, but the Spiders shot 56.3 percent and had five players in double digits.

LEADING THE CONFERENCE
Junior Arianna Smith currently leads the A-10 in offensive rebounds, rebounds per game, total rebounds, and double doubles. She ranks fifth in the nation in offensive boards, ninth in rebounds per game, and 18th in total rebounds.

FIALA NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Dayton freshman center Eve Fiala was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on Feb. 5 after averaging 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in contests against Saint Louis and La Salle.

UP NEXT
The Flyers return home to host George Mason on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m. at UD Arena.

DOUBLING-UP
Junior Arianna Smith has already recorded nine double-doubles this season and is averaging that per game. She posted those against Lindenwood, SIUE, Wichita St., Davidson, Ohio Dominican, Massachusetts, Loyola Chicago, Saint Louis, and Richmond.
