FAIRFAX, Va. - With its 5-2 win over George Mason Sunday, the University of Dayton softball team claimed the 2-1 Atlantic 10 series win to close out the first weekend of league play. Junior
Maddie Kapsimalis tallied four RBI on three hits and sophomore
Izzy Kemp tossed her second complete game of the series.
Dayton ends the week with a 12-9 overall record and 2-1 mark in conference games while George Mason moves to 8-18 on the season and 1-2 in A-10 action.
KEY STATS
SB - junior
Emma Schutter tallied two stolen bases in the game and she now has 65 for her career, just two off the school record
7 - Kemp worked her seventh complete game of the season, recording seven strikeouts
4 - for the second time this season, Kapsimalis collected four RBI in a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate
3 - Schutter scored three runs and tallied three putouts in centerfield
Win - Kemp (7-4). Loss - J. Tallman (1-4). Save - None.
UP NEXT
Dayton has a mid-week doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday at Purdue Fort Wayne. The Flyers and Mastodons are set to get underway at 2 p.m. March 20 at the Purdue Fort Wayne Softball Field.
