DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team battled George Washington Saturday to a 1-1 split in the Flyers' home-opening Atlantic 10 doubleheader. Junior
Chloe Wong recorded the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh to give Dayton a 6-5 win in game one while GW out-lasted UD's late rally to take the nightcap, 11-8, in 10 innings.
Dayton is now 13-10 on the season and 3-2 in A-10 play while George Washington is now 16-13 overall and also 3-2 in league games.

Wong was a combined 5-for-8 (.625) on the day with four RBI, one run scored and one stolen base

Dayton 6, George Washington 5

Emily Daniel was one off her career high with five putouts in left field
4 - Wong was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, including her third double of the season

Molly Grace belted out a three-run homer in the sixth to kick-start the Flyers' come-from-behind win, recording a career-high three RBI

George Washington 11, Dayton 8 (10 inn.)
H - nine different Flyers recorded a hit
6 - Grace had a career-high-tying six putouts to go with three assists at second base

Kaelene Walter's three-run homer was an integral part of the Flyers' seven-run seventh to stay alive in the game
2 - both of freshman
Deirdre Flaherty's hits in the game were for extra bases including a solo home run in the second inning
1B - junior
Maddie Kapsimalis' single in the fourth extended her reached-base streak to a team-best 14 games
Win - Rose Cano (1-3). Loss - Bailitz (3-4). Save - None.
UP NEXT
Dayton and George Washington will close out their three-game conference series on Sunday with a single game. First pitch between the Flyers and Revolutionaries is set for 12 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.
