DAYTON – The University of Dayton Women's basketball team ended the regular season Saturday with a 77-42 loss at home to Rhode Island.
The Flyers (11-18, 5-13 A-10) end their losing with a defeat while the Rams (18-13, 10-8 A-10) head into the postseason with some momentum.
KEY MOMENT
1st Quarter: Dayton 6, Rhode Island 16
- After a scoring drought, junior Ivy Wolf got the Flyers on the board with a nice midrange jumper at 3:48 mark
- Wolf continued her scoring by knocking two free throws
- After forcing a Rams turnover, senior Anyssa Jones got herself her first points with a nice driving lefty layup at 1:15 mark
- Flyers were able to force the Rams to commit 5 turnovers during the quarter
2nd Quarter: Dayton 20, Rhode Island 39
- Redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon got her first points of the game with the put back off her own miss 16 seconds into the quarter
- Graduate student Mariah Perez got herself on the board with back to back put backs to keep the Flyers in the game
- Perez continued her strong quarter with a nice lefty layup in the paint off a nice assist from freshman Riley Rismiller at 3:55 mark
- Freshman Denika Lightbourne got herself on the board by drawing the foul and knocking down the two free throws with 2:03 remaining in the half
- Junior Arianna Smith was able to draw the foul to get her first points of the game but could not secure the and-one
- Bohanon got the nice putback off the Jones missed three at 0:21 mark
3rd Quarter: Dayton 29, Rhode Island 59
- Freshman Riley Rismiller was able to get herself going by drawing the foul and knocking down one of two free throws at 4:59 mark
- Bohanon secured the nice one-handed shot in the paint off a nice assist from sophomore Nayo Lear at 4:16 mark
- Rismiller got herself a nice fastbreak layup off the assist from Bohanon at 1:28 mark
- Freshman Eve Fiala was able to get herself on the board by knocking down one of two free throws with 18 seconds left in the quarter
- As time went out, Wolf was able to draw the foul for three free throws and knocked down all of them
4th Quarter: Dayton 42, Rhode Island 77
- Fiala got the Flyers first points of quarter by knocking down two free throws at 8:26 mark
- Ivy Wolf got herself back to back jumpers to continue her strong quarter performance
- Bohanon knocked down a smooth corner jumper off the assist from junior Shannon Wheeler
- Lightbourne added to her scoring after a nice putback off the Kozlova missed three pointer at 3:43 mark
- Perez continued her strong performance with her final jumper of her career in the paint at 1:44 mark
- Freshman Saija Cleveland was able to her get first points of the game by knocking down one of two from the strike with 0:25 remaining in the game
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Ivy Wolf led the Flyers in scoring with 11 points.
16 - Flyers outscored Rams 16-13 on second chance points.
