HENRICO, Va. – The University of Dayton Women's basketball team opened the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship tournament with a 66-52 win over No. 14 seed St. Bonaventure in the first round Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 11 seed Flyers (12-18, 5-13 A-10) keep their season alive while the Bonnies (4-26, 1-17 A-10) end their season on an 18-game losing streak.

1st Quarter: Dayton 20, St. Bonaventure 17
- UD struck first on the opening possession as senior Anyssa Jones drew the foul and hit both free throws.
- St. Bonaventure matched Dayton point for point over the initial three minutes of the contest.
- At the media break, the Flyers trailed 12-11.
- Jones drove and scored out of the timeout to put UD back on top 13-12 with under four to play in the quarter.
- On the other end, the Bonnies suffered from a 3:09 scoring drought.
- Junior Ivy Wolf drilled a big three at the end of the quarter to give Dayton the 18-17 lead.
- UD shot 47 percent compared to SBU's 44 percent in the first 10 minutes.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 34, St. Bonaventure 25
- Sophomore Nayo Lear extended the Flyers' lead with a pair of baskets to make it a 24-17 ball game by the 7:12 mark.
- The Bonnies were forced to call their first timeout of the game with 5:35 to play as the Flyers had their biggest lead of the game at 26-19.
- The Dayton defense settled in and held St. Bonaventure without a field goal for over five minutes.
- Meanwhile Wolf hit her third three of the game to put UD ahead by double digits with just over two minutes in the half.
- Dayton shot 48 percent in the first half and held St. Bonaventure to just 33 percent and 0-for-4 from three.
- Jones and Wolf both had nine points apiece while Jones and junior Arianna Smith had four rebounds each.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 49, St. Bonaventure 36
- Graduate student Mariah Perez hit a pair of jumpers to start the second half and make it a 13-point UD advantage.
- The Bonnies didn't get their first points of the half until the 6:37 mark.
- Midway through the third, Dayton held a 43-29 lead and 24-16 rebounding advantage.
- SBU responded with a little run of its own to close the gap to 11 with under a minute to play as UD had led by as much as 16 in the quarter.
- Jones became the first Flyer in double digits with 11 points in the contest.
4th Quarter: Dayton 66, St. Bonaventure 52
- Once again, Perez scored the first two baskets of the quarter for Dayton and made it a 53-38 UD lead.
- The Bonnies had to call their second timeout of the game amidst a 6-0 Dayton run over 0:55 with 6:55 on the clock.
- Perez and Wolf joined Jones with double digit scoring games for the Flyers.
- St. Bonaventure answered with a 6-0 run of its own during a 3:10 scoring drought for Dayton.
- In the end, the Flyers had too much firepower for the Bonnies to match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Ivy Wolf had a team-high 14 points and hit four threes.

Anyssa Jones added 13 points, six rebounds, and was 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

Mariah Perez also had double digits with 10 points and had five rebounds.
91.7% - Dayton shot 91.7 percent from the free throw line while SBU shot 68.2 percent.
5 to 1 – The Flyers made five threes with the Bonnies only making one in the contest.
