INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Dayton baseball team slugged its way to a doubleheader sweep of Butler on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Bulldogs 9-7 in game one and coming back to win 8-2 in the nightcap at Bulldog Park.
Both starters for the #FlyBoys pitched magnificently, as game one starter
Eli Majick went seven innings and struck out eight while allowing just one earned run. Game two saw freshman Connor Fennel twirl a gem, as he also struck out eight in 6.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs while walking only one.
GAME ONE
Dayton 9, Butler 7
Dayton wasted little time getting ahead, scoring a pair of runs in the second inning. The Flyers added two runs in the third, three more in the third, and added single runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.
Butler rallied with two outs in the ninth, eventually plating six runs and putting the tying runs on base, but senior
Nick Wissman shut the door to pick up his fourth save of the season.

The Flyers continued to manufacture runs in game two of the doubleheader, scoring runs in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth innings.
UD's big blast came from
Eddie Yamin IV, who launched a two-run home run as the exclamation point of the sixth inning.
Fennell's 6.1-inning performance was the best of his career, with his eight strike outs also registering as a career-high. Junior
Michael Fortes threw the final 2.2 innings, striking out three and allowing just two baserunners via hit.
