COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team was not able to overcome an early Ohio State lead Wednesday, falling to the Buckeyes, 6-2, at Buckeye Field. Freshman Deirdre Flaherty's two-RBI single to the right-field fence plated two runs for the Flyers in the sixth.

Dayton is now an even 13-13 on the season while Ohio State improves to 18-10 overall.

KEY STATS
2B - junior Maddie Kapsimalis batted her team-best sixth double of the season, extending her reached-base streak to 17 games (tied for fourth-longest streak in the nation)
3 - graduate student Sarah Bailitz struck out three of the seven batters she faced over 2.0 innings of relief in the circle
2 - Flaherty recorded two RBI, her third multi-RBI game of the season
Win - Ruck (4-2). Loss - Haven Dwyer (3-3). Save - None.

UP NEXT
Dayton will host its second Atlantic 10 Conference series in as many weekends when it welcomes Loyola Chicago to town on Friday. The Flyers and Ramblers are set for a single game March 29 beginning at 4 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 12 p.m. All games will be played at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.
