Men’s Basketball Rolls To 100-83 Win At Saint Louis

UD’s 18 Three-Pointers Ties School Record, Breaks Chaifetz Arena Record

ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton men's basketball team had five players in double figures and three with 20+ points en route to a 100-83 win in the season's final road game at Saint Louis.

DaRon Holmes II led all scorers with 25 points (along with 13 rebounds and five assists), while Koby Brea and Kobe Elvis had 21.  Enoch Cheeks also had double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Nate Santos added 10.

UD's 18 three pointers tied the Flyer single-game record set earlier this year against Oakland, and broke the Chaifetz Arena record of 16,

Dayton, ranked 25th in this week's AP poll, is now 23-6 overall, and 13-4 in the Atlantic 10.  SLU is now 11-19 and 4-13 in the A-10.

GAME RECAP
1st Half – Dayton 49, Saint Louis 35

•    Dayton scored two points in the first five minutes of the game, and then exploded for 47 in the final 14:56 of the first half.
•    UD took its first lead of the game (27-25) at the 7:38 mark, part of an 11-0 run that ended at 6:03 to go.
•    The Flyers also had a 10-0 later in the half.
•    Dayton shot 50% (18-36) from the field, and 47.1% (8-17) from three point.
•    UD had more offensive rebounds (11) than Saint Louis had overall (9).  UD had 27 total boards in the first half.
2nd Half – Dayton 100, Saint Louis 83
•    The Billikens scored the first bucket of the second half, but the Flyers scored 14 of the next 17 points to take a 20-point lead (60-40) by the first media time out.
•    Saint Louis was able to get back to within 14 (80-66) with 6:37 remaining.
•    UD took it back to its largest lead (26, 98-72)) at the 2:36 mark.
•    The Flyers reached triple digits on an Enoch Cheeks dunk with 1:58 to go.
•    Saint Louis scored the final nine points of the game.
•    UD shot 62.1%- (18-29) FG, and 62.5% (10-16 from beyond the arc.

BY THE NUMBERS
•    100 – This was Dayton's first 100-point game since Jan. 12, 2018, when UD  beat VCU 106-79.
•    5 – This was the second time in the last three games all five starters reached double figures for the Flyers.
•    10 – This was DaRon Holmes II's 10th double-double of the year (25 points, 13 rebounds).
•    8 – This was the eighth time this season Dayton shot 50% or better from three point range.  UD shot 54.5% (18-33) from beyond the arch.
•    7 – Enoch Cheeks reached double figures for he seventh time in the last nine games, after scoring 10 or more just twice in the first 20 games.  His 15 points and 10 rebounds were also his second double-double at Dayton.
•    21 – Koby Brea's 21 points were the most since he scored 22 at SMU.  Kobe Elvis' 21 were his most since he had 21 at St. Joe's.
•    30 – Nate Santos was a team-best +30 in the game.
•    5 – Holmes, Cheeks and Elvis each had a team-high five assists.  For Cheeks, it was a season high.
•    22 – The Flyers outscored the Billikens 22-6 in second-chance points.
•    0 – UD did all this without point guard Javon Bennett, who missed the game with an injured left hand.
