ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Dayton women's tennis team triumphed in the opening round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday afternoon, dispatching No. 10-seed Duquesne 4-0 at the USTA National Campus.
Dayton jumped to the early lead thanks to a win in the doubles point.
Marra Bruce and
Elizabeth Hamilton won at No. 2, 6-2, and
Erica Wojcikiewicz and
Laura Greb were victorious at No. 3, 6-4.
Neena Katauskas got the singles party started for UD, winning handedly 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Bruce gave the Flyers a commanding lead with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2, and Hamilton clinched at No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
The win is the first for the Flyers at the A-10 Championship since the 2018 campaign.
