#UDSB Splits With Rhode Island Saturday

Flyers and Rams to Wrap Three-Game Series Sunday at Noon

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team splits its Atlantic 10 doubleheader with Rhode Island Saturday, taking game one by an 8-0 margin in five innings followed by a 6-3 loss in the nightcap. The Flyers and Rams will close out the three-game series with a single game on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. with Senior Day recognition prior to the game.

Dayton is now 27-18 on the season and 16-6 in Atlantic 10 games. Rhode Island moves to 14-34 overall and 9-13 in league action.

GAME ONE
Dayton 8, Rhode Island 0 (5 inn.)
CG/SHO - junior pitcher Haven Dwyer recorded her first career complete-game shutout, allowing zero runs on four hits in 5.0 innings of work
3 - junior Chloe Wong was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored, her 10th multi-hit game of the season
2 - graduate student Nicolette Papavasiliou was the second Flyer to post two RBI in the game, her fifth multi-RBI game of the season
2 - junior Emma Schutter swiped two bases bringing her season total to 23
Win - Dwyer (11-5). Loss - Katie Zaun (5-13). Save - None.

GAME TWO
Rhode Island 6, Dayton 3
SB - both graduate student Emily Daniel (28) and freshman Kirnan Bailey (19) recorded a stolen base in the game bringing the team's season total to 88, just one off the program's single-season record of 89 set in 2023
HR - graduate student Katie Reeg sent a ball over the fence, her career-high-tying third home run of the season
9 - sophomore pitcher Izzy Kemp record nine strikeouts in just 4.0 innings of action
2 - both Schutter and Bailey tallied two hits in the game
Win - Ashley Hibbard (6-5). Loss - Sarah Bailitz (7-7). Save - None.

Dayton will close out the home portion of its 2024 schedule Sunday with a single game against Rhode Island.
