AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Dayton softball team claimed two wins at Massachusetts Saturday, both by a 4-3 margin, at the Minutewomen's Sortino Field. The Flyers extend their winning streak to five games.
Dayton improves to 18-13 overall and 8-3 in Atlantic 10 Conference games while Massachusetts moves to 10-25 on the season and 6-5 in league games.
GAME ONE
Dayton 4, Massachusetts 3 (8 inn.)
SB - three different Flyers recorded a stolen base in the contest, including graduate student
Emily Daniel who leads the team with 19
3B - freshman
Kirnan Bailey batted her first career triple, resulting in the game-winning RBI
5 - sophomore
Izzy Kemp recorded five strikeouts during three innings of relief
3 - junior
Maddie Kapsimalis drew a career-high three walks - she leads the team with 21 on the season
Win - I. Kemp (8-5). Loss - N. Horton (3-8). Save - None.
GAME TWO
Dayton 4, Massachusetts 3
2B - both of junior
Chloe Wong's hits were doubles, the second knocked in the winning run
11 - as a team, the Flyers combined for 11 hits - the seventh time this season Dayton has posted double-digit hits
3 - junior
Emma Schutter went 3-for-4 at the plate, her first three-hit game of the season
2 - junior
Maddie Kapsimalis, one of four Flyers to record a multi-hit game, went 2-for-4 to record her 10th multi-hit game of the year

UP NEXT
The Flyers and Minutewomen will close out their three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series on Sunday. First pitch between UD and UMass is set for 12: 05 p.m. at Sortino Field and admission is free.
