DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will remain at home to host Jacksonville University Sunday at 3 p.m. at Baujan Field.
The game will be the first one of a double-header with the women's team, who will host in-state foe Xavier at 7 p.m. at Baujan.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is 1-0 on the year after a big 5-1 victory over Detroit Mercy to open the season this Thursday. The Flyers were 6-1-1 at home last season and 1-0 already this year.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 20th year at Dayton and is the winningest coach in program history. He ranks eighth among active Division I coaches in career wins.
After one game, Dayton is averaging 5.00 goals per game to the opposing teams' 1.00 goal while outshooting opponents 18.0 to 4.0 attempts per game. The Flyers boast a .278 shot percentage and .389 shots on goal percentage.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
JACKSONVILLE
Jacksonville is 0-1 after a tough 2-0 loss at No. 24 Louisville Thursday night. The Dolphins will stay in the midwest and finish up their road stint at Dayton Sunday. JU is coming off a 5-9-3 season in 2023 and was 1-8-1 on the road last year.
Head coach Ali Simmons is in his second season in charge of the Dolphins and has taken four different programs to the NCAA Tournament as an assistant coach.
The Dolphins are still looking for their first goal this season and gave up two goals in the season opener. Jacksonville was out-shot 12 to eight and has a .250 shots on goal percentage.
Olivier Correa had three shots, two on target, while Nicolas Aanensen Karlson had two shots in the loss. Goalkeeper Christian Sekanina played all 90 minutes in goal and had four saves.
LAST OUTING
Dayton opened the season with an authoritative 5-1 victory over Detroit Mercy Thursday night at home. Sophomore newcomer
Felix Buabeng recorded two assists and his first goal as a Flyer to lead the effort. UD out-shot the Titans 18-4 in the contest.
Jacksonville opened the season at No. 24 Louisville Thursday and dropped a 2-0 decision to the Cardinals. Hosts Louisville scored two goals just one minute apart in the first half and held on the for the win. Shots were closer in this match-up though, 12-8 in favor of Louisville.
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Jacksonville are meeting for just the second time in program history and the first time since 2014 when the Flyers defeated the Dolphins 3-0 in Birmingham at the UAB Tournament.
SETTING THE STANDARD
Dayton ranks third in the country in scoring offense and total goals while ranking fifth in total points and points per game.
Individually,
Felix Buabeng is second in Division I in total assists and eighth in total points.
Joseph Melto Quiah is also third in shots per game.
UP NEXT
The Flyers will head to Columbus and the campus of Ohio State for the 2024 Wolstein Classic on Aug. 29 against UNLV. Kick-off is at 6 p.m.
