Flyers Sweep FIU, Match Against RV OSU Ruled No-Contest

The Flyers And Buckeyes Will Not Make Up The Match

DAYTON – The No. 22-ranked University of Dayton volleyball rolled to a 3-0 victory over FIU before humidity and unsafe playing conditions foiled the weekend's marquee matchup against Ohio State on Saturday at the Frericks Center.

After the Flyers and Buckeyes split the first two sets in front of a record-shattering 4,196 fans, humidity caused the playing surface to become unplayable. The UD and OSU coaching staffs as well as officials, decided to declare the match a no-contest.

"We want to thank every fan that came to the Frericks Center tonight," said Dayton head coach Tim Horsmon. "Thank you to every fan that remained patient as staff tried to make the floor playable. We wish we could have finished the match with Ohio State and think it would have been a great one, but we appreciate you for understanding that the health and safety of our student-athletes is our top priority. Most of all - thank you for being the absolute best fans in the country."

The two teams will not make up the match.
