Wright State Last Pre-Conference Opponent For #UDWSOC

Flyers and Raiders to Kick Off at 7 p.m. Thursday

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's soccer team will close out the pre-conference portion of its 2024 schedule Thursday night as it welcomes cross-town foe Wright State to campus. The Flyers and Raiders will get underway at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at Baujan Field and admission is free. Fans are encouraged to wear RED.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (5-2) earned its fourth shutout win of the season on Sunday, downing Louisville 1-0 in the Derby City. Junior Jenna Hallbeck scored the game winner for the Flyers, her second goal of the season, in the fourth minute of the match. Senior Noel Blain leads UD's offense with 13 points (3rd A-10, 25th NCAA) on the strength of 5 goals (t-2nd A-10, 29th NCAA) and three assists (6th A-10). In goal for Dayton, junior Batoul Reda is the only Flyer to have played all 630 minutes (1st A-10, 17th NCAA) this season. She carries a 1.43 GAA and has collected 20 saves on the year.

SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE
Wright State (2-4) split its last two matches, both played at home, with a 3-0 win over Morehead State and a 2-1 loss in the final minute against Valparaiso. The Raiders have had five different goals scorers this season led by Olivia Stroud with two goals and two assists. Kiera Sarka has started all six games between the posts for WSU but has shared game time with Erin Baker. The keepers combine for a 2.67 GAA and are nearly even with 15 and 16 saves apiece respectively.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 24-5-4
In a series that dates back to 1985, Dayton holds a commanding lead over Wright State and the Flyers have won the last two matchups against the Raiders. The pair last squared off Sept. 3, 2023 in Fairborn with UD claiming the 3-0 victory.

LAST TIME OUT
After netting a goal in the fourth minute of the match, Dayton was able to hold off Louisville Sunday night for the 1-0 win at UofL's Lynn Stadium. Junior Jenna Hallbeck scored the game winner and she, along with freshman Liv Grenda, tallied three shots on the night. With the shutout, junior keeper Batoul Reda has now recorded 20 shutout wins over her career as a Flyer, including four this season.

FLYER FACTS
Eric Golz is in his eighth season as head coach of the Flyers in 2024. His record at Dayton is 77-47-16 (.607) and his career win-loss mark sits at 97-63-21 (.594) over a total of 10 seasons. Golz has tallied the program's second-most wins, behind Mike Tucker who had 313 wins over 22 seasons (1995-2016) at Dayton.
• Freshman Liv Grenda claimed the Atlantic 10's first Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 19 after scoring her first collegiate goal in Dayton's 2-1 win at Loyola Maryland on opening day.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). Over 28 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 34-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship.
