Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 24-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team battled to a pair of four-set victories on Friday, taking down South Florida (25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-19) and host Florida Gulf Coast (25-17, 22-25, 26-24, 25-22) at Alico Arena as part of the FGCU Homewood Suites Fort Myers Tournament.
 
Redshirt senior Lexie Almodovar became the seventh student-athlete in program history to join the 1,000 point – 1,000 dig club thanks to a 13-dig performance in the day's first match. The Noblesville, Ind. native now has 1,625 kills and 1,021 digs in her career.
 
UD improves to 9-1 on the season with the two wins.

Almodovar's 28 kills led the way for Dayton, as the redshirt senior hit at a .423 clip and added a pair of blocks. Senior Alyssa Miller continued her impressive start to the 2024 campaign, averaging 11.5 assists per set in the match.

Dayton took down the host Eagles in an exciting finish to the day, needing extra points to finish off the third set then riding the momentum to a match victory.
 
The Flyers utilized a well-balanced attack, with Almodovar and junior Liana Sarkissian leading the attack with 15 kills each. Redshirt senior Brooke Smith added 10 kills, and redshirt senior Alayna Yates added an impressive seven blocks.
