DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team heads back out on the road to take on Duquesne University Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is amidst the longest winning streak in head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter's tenure at four games in a row. The Flyers are 10-6 overall and tied atop the Atlantic 10 standings with a 4-1 conference mark.
Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
The Flyers are averaging 65.6 points per game and holding opponents to just 61.1 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 41.6 percent overall, 31.2 percent from three point range, and 71.3 percent from the free throw line.
Leading the way for the Flyers are seniors
Ivy Wolf with 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and
Arianna Smith with 10.9 points and 9.1 boards per outing. Freshman
Olivia Leung is a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week honoree coming off the bench.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
DUQUESNE
Duquesne returns home from a two-game road stretch with a 11-5 record on the year and a 2-3 A-10 mark. The Dukes are 8-2 at home this season and on a two-game winning streak, but dropped their last home contest to Fordham on Jan. 5.
Head coach Dan Burt is in his 12th season at the helm and 18th overall at Duquesne.
As a team, the Dukes are scoring 77.1 points each contest and allowing 66.3 points to opposing squads. Duquesne is averaging 43.5 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from behind the arc, and 68.5 percent from the charity stripe. The Dukes are also fourth in the nation in three pointers made and three pointers attempted per game.
Duquesne is led by A-10 Player of the Year candidate Megan McConnell, who leads the team with 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 4.4 steals per game. Jerni Kiaku is chipping in 13.7 points per game as well.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Dukes are meeting for the 50th time in program history with Dayton leading the series by one game, 25-24. Duquesne has won the last three match-ups however including a 70-42 win at UD Arena in 2023.
